   Lieutenant Russell Baldwin was shot and killed after stopping a man who had just robbed a grocery store of $240.

   During the traffic stop both men exited their vehicles and spoke for a few moments before the suspect produced a gun and shot Lieutenant Baldwin in the chest.

   The 31-year-old suspect was convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison where he died in 2009.

   Lieutenant Baldwin was survived by his wife, son and daughter.
