   Patrolman Jacub Manka was shot and killed by an unknown subject he saw walking through a neighborhood in his stocking feet.

   As he approached the suspicious character in an alley, the 30-year-old man turned and fired, hitting him in the chest. Patrolman Manka returned fire and killed the subject before staggering into a nearby tavern where he collapsed. He was taken to a local doctor's officer where he died about an hour later.

   Patrolman Manka was survived by his wife, 2-year-old and 4-month-old children, and mother.
