Incident Details
Cause of Death:Officer Brian Elliott was shot and killed after responding to a domestic disturbance at the Beech Meadow apartment complex.
As he and another officer approached the apartment doorway, they were both shot by a 47-year-old man who was inside.
Both officers were transported to Eskenazi Hospital in Indianapolis where Officer Elliott later died while the other officer is in stable condition.
The suspect fled the scene and was taken into custody by Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department SWAT officers nearly five hours later at a different apartment in the complex.
Officer Elliott had previously served with the Marion County Sheriff's Department as a deputy for over three years. He is survived by his wife and parents.
