Corporal Blake Reynolds was killed while assisting the driver of a disabled semitrailer on Interstate 69 near the 247-mile marker west of Gaston.

   He was standing outside his patrol vehicle and the semitrailer was partially in the roadway when the driver of another semitrailer traveling northbound lost control, striking Corporal Reynolds, his patrol vehicle and the disabled semitrailer.

   He was taken to IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie where he was pronounced dead. The 39-year-old male driver of the striking semitrailer was airlifted to IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. The driver of the disabled semitrailer was not injured.

   In April 2026, he was charged with reckless homicide, involuntary manslaughter, failure to change lanes for authorized emergency vehicle, all felonies, and reckless operation of a tractor-trailer, a misdemeanor.

   Corporal Reynolds, from Muncie, had previously served as a juvenile probation officer with the county. He was survived by his wife, Allison (née Eddleman), whom he married in June; parents, Bruce and Melissa (née Adair); brother, Dustin; maternal grandparents, Calvin and Sandra Adair; and paternal grandparents, Bruce and Linda Reynolds.

Historical Notes • Corporal Reynolds is the second of two Indiana line of duty deaths in 2025. • He is the first line of duty death of the Delaware County Sheriff's Department. • His line of duty death is the seventh that has originated from Delaware County.
