Sergeant Heather Glenn was shot and killed while investigating a domestic dispute at the Perry County Memorial Hospital.

   She and other officers had responded after a female had gone to the hospital for injuries she received late Sunday.

   While being treated, she told hospital staff the 34-year-old suspect was en route and upon his arrival, Sergeant Glenn attempted to arrest him.

   An altercation ensued and Sergeant Glenn was shot and killed when other officers returned fire and killed the suspect before both died at the scene.

   Sergeant Glenn had previously served with the Perry County Sheriff's Department. She was single and survived by her parents, Robert and Jayne (née Claise); and brother, Jason (Brooke). Her father retired as a sergeant with the department.

Memorial Tribute • In 2026, State Road 237 near Perry County Memorial Hospital was designated the Sergeant Heather J. Glenn Memorial Highway in her honor.

Historical Notes • Sergeant Glenn is the fifth of seven Indiana line of duty deaths in 2023. • She is the first line of duty death of the Tell City Police Department. • Her line of duty death is the third that has originated from Perry County.
