   Night Watchman William Smith was killed after apparently having been struck by a vehicle as he was walking in the downtown area while on duty.

   His body was found laying in the street about 150 feet away from his hat and flashlight. He never regained consciousness, and died of a fractured skull and pulmonary hemorrhage.

   Night Watchman Smith was single and survived by his mother, two brothers and two sisters.
