   Deputy Sheriff Eugene Snyder was killed in a two-vehicle accident on U.S. 35 near New Westville, Ohio.

   While conducting an investigation and traveling westbound from Eaton en route to New Paris, their squad car was struck by an eastbound vehicle attempting to pass another vehicle near a curve.

   When the deputies failed to arrive at the destination, the Preble County sheriff who had proceeded ahead of them, followed the route and found the accident.

   Deputy Snyder, who was a passenger, was killed instantly of a broken neck. The other deputy and both occupants of the other vehicle were injured but survived.

   Deputy Sheriff Snyder, from New Westville, Ohio, was survived by his wife, young son, mother, sister and brother.
