Sergeant David Sandler was killed in a two-vehicle accident after being struck by another vehicle.

He was southbound on his motorcycle when he was struck by a northbound vehicle making a left turn in front of him near an intersection.

Sergeant Sandler was transported to Wishard Memorial Hospital where he died from severe head injuries two hours later.

The 27-year-old male driver of the vehicle was not charged after an investigation found that the headlight of Sergeant Sandler's motorcycle had not properly activated.

Sergeant Sandler was survived by his wife, four daughters, six grandchildren and mother.
