   Sergeant Ernest Lacy was killed in a single-vehicle accident while on duty.

   His patrol car left the roadway and struck a concrete railroad bridge abutment. He was transported to Wishard Memorial Hospital where he died an hour and a half later.

   Sergeant Lacy was survived by his son and daughter.
