Trooper Andrew Winzenread was struck and killed by a semitrailer while assisting an eastbound motorist on Interstate 74 near the 144-mile marker east of New Point.

   The motorist was also struck and admitted in good condition to a hospital. The 46-year-old truck driver was questioned and released.

   Trooper Winzenread, from Osgood, was assigned to the Versailles post. He was survived by his wife, 1-month-old daughter and mother.
