Patrolman Otto Welch was killed in a two-vehicle accident when his motorcycle struck a vehicle which had come to a sudden stop as its driver was turning into a garage.
He was thrown upon impact and killed instantly when the sidecar of his motorcycle collided with the rear of a vehicle driven by a 25-year-old female.
Patrolman Welch was survived by his wife, daughter, sister and seven brothers.
