Incident Details
Cause of Death:Detective Sergeant Thomas Cochran died from injuries he suffered the previous day after being involved in a single-vehicle accident.
He had been requested by other officers on the scene of a suicidal man who was holding a knife to his throat while sitting in a car.
While en route, he encountered an icy patch on the roadway and struck a concrete wall. He was ejected from his patrol car and suffered severe injuries resulting in his death the following day at University Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Detective Sergeant Cochran was survived by his wife, three daughters, two sons and four grandchildren.
