Town Marshal Bobby Moore was shot and killed as he returned home from duty and was entering the side entrance of his residence.

His 35-year-old stepson, a former trooper trainee with the Indiana State Police who was dismissed for unsatisfactory performance, was initially wanted for questioning but charges were never filed against him.

No suspects have ever been apprehended and the case remains unsolved.

Town Marshal Moore was widowed and survived by his son, mother and sister. He had previously served with the Metropolitan Police Department of the District of Columbia and retired as a homicide detective after 20 years.
