Deputy Sheriff Craig Blann was electrocuted when he came into contact with a live power line while investigating a single-vehicle accident.

   The 18-year-old female driver involved in the accident had returned home and reported she had swerved to avoid a deer, striking a utility pole before rolling her vehicle on its top.

   After Deputy Blann interviewed the driver, he returned to the scene to continue his investigation when he was killed instantly after coming into contact with the downed power line.

   Deputy Sheriff Blann, from Morocco, had previously served as a jailer with the agency and as a deputy marshal for the Kentland Police Department. He was survived by his wife, daughter, son, sister, two brothers and parents.
