Detective Corporal Louis Donald was killed in a single-vehicle accident during a vehicle pursuit while working a special traffic detail.

He was traveling westbound as he approached the intersection where another officer was stopped in the eastbound lanes. Detective Corporal Donald attempted to avoid a collision when he lost control of his squad car and struck a light pole.

Three male subjects were subsequently apprehended a mile-and-a-half away after crashing into a ditch. The 22-year-old driver was later convicted of resisting law enforcement, sentenced to seven years in prison and discharged in 2008.

Detective Corporal Donald was survived by his daughter, three sons, parents and two sisters.
