   Chief of Police Peter Redar died from injuries he suffered over two weeks earlier after being involved in a two-vehicle accident.

   As he was returning from taking photographs at a death investigation and stopped at an intersection, a northbound semitrailer jack-knifed on the slippery pavement and struck his southbound patrol car.

   He was transported to Saint Margaret Hospital in Hammond where he died of his injuries over two weeks later.

   Chief of Police Redar was survived by his wife, two sons, two daughters, two brothers, sister and grandson.
