Chief of Police Peter Redar died from injuries he suffered over two weeks earlier after being involved in a two-vehicle accident.

   As he was returning from photographing a death scene and stopped at an intersection, a semitrailer jack-knifed on the slippery pavement and struck his patrol car.

   He was transported to St. Margaret Hospital in Hammond where he died of his injuries over two weeks later.

   Chief Redar was survived by his wife, two sons, two daughters, two brothers, sister and grandson.
