   Deputy Sheriff George Zorodny was killed in a two-vehicle accident while testing a motorcycle for the newly-formed motor squad.

   He was southbound with three other deputies on their motorcycles between Crown Point and Cedar Lake when he crossed the center line, was struck by a northbound vehicle head-on and thrown into a ditch.

   Deputy Sheriff Zorodny, from Crown Point, had previously served as an officer with the Minneapolis, Minnesota, Police Department. He was survived by his wife.
